Read Mark 4:21-25
Can People See The Light Of Jesus In Our Lives? Or Is It Hidden From Them?
Vs 21-22: Jesus was saying that if a light is brought out, it’s for a purpose. It’s brought out so people can see. It is not meant to be hidden under something or kept as a secret.
It’s the same with God’s truth. For those of us who have received the light of Jesus, we are given instructions not to hide it from others or be kept as a secret. On the contrary, God has brought this truth of Jesus to light in our lives with the expectation that it will captivate us so much that we are transformed. We are driven to want to share this light of Truth with others.
1. When we walk in a room, it’s obvious that there’s something different about us.
2. IN FACT, people see the light of Jesus shining through us in our everyday lives.
3. This truth of Jesus will mean so much to us that we are compelled to tell others about Jesus. We’ll want people to know the truth.
Sadly, there are times that, we as Christians, keep it a secret out of fear. We don’t see the severity of what life will be like if a person dies without Jesus. God doesn’t wish that any perish in hell. May that become so much a part of our heart that it compels us to want to share with others so that they might be saved, regardless of the consequences towards us!
Vs 23: Jesus says that if any person has ears to hear Let them hear. In other words, I hope you’re listening and put this into practice because it’s a matter of life and death.
Vs 24: Jesus says to be careful what you listen to and fill in your mind and heart. Those who make seeking God’s truth a number one priority will be blessed by God so that they are more effective in reaching others.
Vs 25: Those who don’t make God’s truth a priority, will lose the blessings of God that are necessary for reaching the lost. As a result they become increasingly ineffective in ministry.
Lord, let your light shine bright through me. And help me continue to feed myself with your word and surround myself with godly people who are role models of the faith. By your grace and Holy Spirit, empower me so that I become all that you want me to be so I can boldly live and speak your truth to the lost. Help me, Lord, not get sidetracked by the things of this world resulting in my light becoming dull before others. Amen!
