Read Mark 16:1-8
“BUT!!!!!”
The word “BUT” is mentioned twice in this passage and actually captures our attention of importance.
1. Mary Magdalene, Mary (mother James), and Salome (possibly the mother of James and John), were going to Jesus’s tomb in order to do what was traditionally done for the dead. They were going to anoint the body of Jesus with spices. Their concern was the stone in front of the tomb. They wondered who would move it for them because it was very large. BUT!!!!!!
The Lord had already miraculously moved it.
As we pursue the Lord Jesus with all our hearts, God will miraculously move the Stone from our dead hearts so we can experience a new life with Jesus.
2. Once we receive this new life in Jesus, is that all we do? Are we to conclude there is nothing more?
BUT WAIT!!!!!!
God is commanding us to GO and TELL others about this new life with Jesus so they may also believe, receive, and follow Jesus, and then GO TELL others about Jesus.
Just like the three ladies, we can become afraid to go and tell others.
BUT WAIT!!!!!
When the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, they were empowered by God to be able to speak the truth in boldness about Jesus. So Lord, empower us by your Holy Spirit so we can boldly tell the good news to others. Amen!
