Read Mark 14:12-26
This is HARD!
On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and it was customary to sacrifice a Passover Lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
Jesus gave instructions to two of his disciples as to where to go and make the necessary preparations. They did as Jesus asked them. When evening came, Jesus arrived with his disciples to begin to eat. It was then he said, “One of you will betray me.” He eventually revealed that it was Judas Iscariot and said, “It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
It was while they were eating that Jesus took the bread and said, “This is my body broken for you.” And later he took the cup of wine saying, “This is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many.”
How hard it must have been for Jesus to sit in the room knowing his betrayal was forthcoming along with the persecution he would have to endure.
In obedience to his father, Jesus did what was asked of him and he did so joyfully but there were times of great anguish and distress as he went through it. It wasn’t easy. It was hard. He needed the help of his Father. He knew what was forthcoming and it wasn’t going to be fun and easy.
What hard thing is God asking of you today? Hard things often require sacrifice of some sort. With it, often comes fear and anxiety, anguish and distress. You want it to stop and be done with it. But the hard thing is necessary for what God is wanting to accomplish in and through your life for his glory and for your growth. Sometimes it brings out your insecurities and feelings of inadequacy. It often chips away from your confidence. But what God is able to do in and through us is not based upon your qualifications but on your willing heart to do that hard thing. He will give us what is necessary to accomplish it and have victory. He will give us what is necessary to overcome the fears, anxieties, the feelings of anguish, distress, insecurities, lack of confidence, and inadequacies.
Daily surrender the hard thing over to the Lord and persevere through the daily challenges. Victory is on its way so stay steadfast and faithful to his calling.
