Read Mark 1:40-45
What Time Is It? It’s TESTIMONY Time!!!!!
A leper came to Jesus beseeching him and even falling on his knees saying, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was moved with compassion and touched the man and said, “Be cleansed!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. Now what do you do? What just happened was a miracle!! To me, it’s testimony time. It’s time to share what Jesus is doing.
However, Jesus sternly told the man to keep quiet! Perhaps Jesus knew it would spark a huge response and was likely to cause problems in the city (over crowding). Perhaps He knew it might draw concerns from the Roman government (which is never good). However, the man proclaimed the miracle of his healing freely and news spread to the extent Jesus could no longer do ministry inside the cities. He had to stay outside the cities and people were coming to him from everywhere. Jesus was in the beginning phases of his ministry and was trying to keep the testimonies limited so he could go to more cities without unnecessary problem. But listen: let’s not use this example of Jesus’s ministry as an excuse not to share the good news Jesus is doing in our lives. It’s very rare occasions that require silence from the lives who God is working in. Very rare! An example I can think of relates back to many years ago when in a communist Nation people could not openly share their faith without the risk of being arrested or killed. One man shared his faith with a gentleman in a bathroom. For fear that taps were put in public areas, he had to share his faith by writing on toilet paper.
Today, however, the door is open for us to share what God’s doing in our lives. So what’s holding us back? Fear? Not feeling worthy? Our pessimistic outlook on life? Is our negativity blinding us to all God is doing and wanting us to acknowledge and share as a testimony?
So what time is it? IT’S TESTIMONY TIME!! Don’t be ashamed! Share with someone today what God is doing in and through your life or the lives of others. Perhaps you need to ask someone what they see God doing in your life because you can’t see it!
