Read Mark 1:29-35.
It Doesn’t Fit Into My Schedule!
After leaving the synagogue, Jesus and his disciples immediately went to Simon’s house. His mother-in-law was staying there and was very sick. They immediately spoke to Jesus about her sickness. Jesus went to her and took her by the hand and raised her up, and she was healed. Then she waited on them. She served them.
When evening came, people began to bring to Jesus all who were ill and demon possessed. The whole city gathered at the door and Jesus healed many and cast out demons. Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus went to a lonely place to pray.
Jesus took the time to minister to the needs of others. Sometimes it wasn’t convenient. Sometimes it went well into the night. Jesus also took the time to pray. Even though he ministered into the night, he still took the time early in the morning to get alone and pray.
What do you not have time for? What do you need to make time for? God puts people in our paths everyday. Are we too busy to respond to those in need? I confess it’s easy for me to get so caught up in my schedule that I don’t make time for that which interferes with my schedule.
Lord, help me be more intentional to help those in need. Help me be willing to make sacrifices that require me to go outside my comfort zone and outside my typical routines. And when all is said and done, definitely help me to take the time to pray. May I never be too busy to pray. I need to be rejuvenated. I need to be re-connected with you Lord to ensure I’m putting my whole faith and trust in you and not in myself.
Lord, help me to Serve! Help me to make Sacrifices! Help me to Stop and Pray!
