Does Your Life Prove The Existence Of Jesus Or Disprove It?
It says that later the chief priests and teachers of the law sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. These men asked Jesus, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. You teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.” Then they ask Jesus this question, “Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
Look how thick these men laid on the compliments to Jesus as a way of being deceptive with only the intent to trap him with words.
* They called him “Teacher” and “a man of integrity.” They used words of respect.
* They said, “You aren’t swayed by others,” “You teach the way of God,” and ” You speak God’s Truth.”
See how much they complimented Jesus with only the intent of setting him up with a question in hopes of capturing him with an answer that would get him in trouble with the Romans?! They asked, “Jesus, should we pay taxes to Caesar or not?” It says that Jesus knew their hypocrisy. He knew they were trying to trap him. The answer he gave was profound: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s!” It says that the Pharisees and Herodians were amazed at his response. It’s almost as if they saw the TRUTH of Jesus, but did they embrace it? Or push it aside only to keep trying to destroy him?
For years people have been trying to disprove the validity of the life of Jesus as the Son of God and Savior of the world.
