Read Mark 1:15-20
“Jesus, I’m Willing To Give Up Everything To Follow You!”
Jesus began to preach the GOSPEL message of a new life in him. In doing so, there’s a call of action from the people.
1. BELIEF: Jesus called for people to BELIEVE in this gospel. Not an intellectual belief but a heartfelt belief.
2. REPENT: Choosing to believe in this gospel involved REPENTING from sin. It’s turning from your old way of living to the new way in Christ.
3. FOLLOW: You believe in this gospel message so much that you want to FOLLOW Jesus completely.
4. GIVE UP: You are so committed to this belief that you are willing to GIVE UP any and everything.
5. REACH LOST SOULS: This is what following Christ is all about. It’s about seeing LOST SOULS set free from the penalty of their sins. It’s about seeing lives transformed for Jesus into a new life – eternal life by grace through faith and the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus called four fishermen to follow him and they were willing to give up everything: their careers, their families, their money, and even certain friends. When you look at the 5 things mentioned above (Belief, Repent, Follow, Give Up, Lost Souls) are there any of them that you can relate with? Which ones? Are there any of them that you feel like you have not put your whole heart into?
Continue to pursue the Lord with all your heart. Let him teach you, prepare you, equip you, use you to the fullest. Let him transform your life, then use you to impact other lives for the Kingdom of God.
Lord, help my heart to be invested in each of these five areas.
