Let’s Go To The Movies.
Mark, the writer of this gospel, starts with the words, “The beginning of the gospel….” The word “gospel” means “good news.” So what is the “Good News?” Mark goes on to say, “The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…” Who is this Jesus? I’m glad you asked because Mark goes on to say, “The beginning of the Gospel [the good news] of Jesus Christ [who?] The Son of God!” WOW!!!! WE’RE GETTING READY TO HEAR THIS TRUE STORY OF JESUS CHRIST THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD!!!!
And actually, this should not come as any surprise to us. For the Old Testament has been telling us that God is sending the Messiah, the Chosen One, his Son, who will come to Earth and save the world from their sins. This isn’t just the greatest story ever told, but it’s the greatest love story that has ever been told. Starting in Genesis chapter 3, we get a prophecy of the coming of Jesus. And this continues throughout the Old Testament. It’s like, we’re going to the movies to see this action-packed true story unfold before us of Jesus Christ, the Son Of God, who came to Earth to save us from a horrific death in hell, brought on by our sins.
The Old Testament would be like the “trailer” of this movie, and this gospel would be the actual Movie of Jesus.
So sit down in your seat, and get ready to watch the best and greatest TRUE story ever told! In fact, strap yourself in, and get ready for the ride of your life. Because this is going to be an adventure you will not want to miss. I want to go through this adventure with you. I hope you’re strapped in so we can go through this gospel [good news] of Jesus, the Son of God together! The greatest TRUE STORY ever told!!!
