I’m Willing To Give Up Everything For Jesus, I think!?!
After Jesus told his disciples how hard it was for a rich person to enter into the Kingdom of God, and after they witnessed the rich man’s unwillingness to surrender everything to the Lord, Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, “We have left everything to follow you!”
Jesus’s response to Peter is profound, although some look at it with fear and some look at it with joy. How you respond to Jesus’s statement can possibly determine where your heart really is when it comes to true surrender and true commitment to give up everything for the Lord.
Jesus made the comment that everyone who is willing to leave everything, including one’s home, any family member, or give up any earthly possessions, will in fact receive a hundred times as much blessing in this present age. With the blessings will also come some form of persecution because you are standing up for Jesus. It may come from a family member because you moved away or changed jobs. It may come from non-believers who hate your faith. But Jesus says the greatest blessing awaits us and that’s eternal life in heaven, the Kingdom of God! So let us persevere and be willing to give up any and everything for the Lord. Not everyone will understand our decision that we make out of love and obedience to the Lord. But don’t let the thought of temporary persecution or the thought of losing temporary blessings on Earth persuade your decision. Instead let us look at the eternal blessings and eternal pleasures and rewards that await us in the Kingdom of Heaven.
