There’s A Rumor Going Around About You.
The 12 disciples of Jesus were obedient to go from village to village preaching the Good News along with performing miracles and healing people everywhere.
When Herod, who previously was tricked into beheading John the Baptist, when he heard of all the miracles being performed by Jesus and his disciples, he was perplexed. He was perplexed because he heard rumors that Jesus was John the Baptist raised from the dead. Others were saying he was Elijah (from the Old Testament) and had appeared. Still others claimed he was one of the prophets of long ago that had come back to life. Herod heard all these rumors and he wanted so badly to see the person of Jesus.
Jesus and his disciples were impacting so many lives in ways that people had never seen or heard. People everywhere were in amazement of all that was going on.
I wonder what people are saying about me? I wonder what rumors are going around about me?!? Would people see me as a humble person willing to stop and help any person in need, especially the unpopular ones? Would they say I’m arrogant and I think I’m better than everyone because I’m “a Christian”? Would they see love as my number one attribute or would they say I have a judgmental spirit and that I’m quick to condemn others because of their lifestyle?
Dear Lord, the name of Jesus has become such a negative word in the ears of people. Lord, use me to impact lives so much with your love that it actually inspires people to want to know Jesus verses hating him and everyone associated with him.
