Read Luke 9:37-43
It’s Time To Get Refocused.
When Jesus and his three disciples came down from the mountain, after the transfiguration, they were met with a large crowd. A man in the crowd called out to Jesus to heal his demon possessed son. The spirit often seized the boy resulting in him: Screaming – Being thrown into convulsions – and Foaming at the mouth.
The man watched the boy being destroyed and had even begged the other disciples to cast him out but they couldn’t.
Jesus then makes some harsh comments:
1. You unbelieving and perverse generation.
2. How long shall I stay with you and put up with you?
Jesus told the father to bring his son and on the way to Jesus, the demon threw the boy to the ground in convulsions. Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his dad. They were all AMAZED at the GREATNESS of GOD!
How do you handle the circumstances and situations you are in that seem to have no end? In fact, all you see are people being destroyed, including yourself. What’s lacking? Is it perseverance? Hope? Trust? Is Jesus calling us an unbelieving and perverse generation? Is he tired of putting up with us? Are your circumstances drawing you closer to Jesus or are they pulling you further away from Jesus? Is your spiritual health looking more like Jesus or less like Jesus? Maybe we need to get refocused and get our eyes back on Jesus and persevere and trust him to do a great thing in and through our lives.
