Read Luke 8:40
I Was Expecting You!
Verse 40 says, “When Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed Him for they were expecting him.”
Jesus was traveling from place to place. He and his disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee many times. When he returned from his trip, I presume he was traveling back to Galilee. When he returned, people welcomed him for they were expecting him. The people knew Jesus. They had seen him do miracles, and heard him preach. They knew his power.
The people anticipated Jesus to show up. They didn’t know when, but they knew he would show up. Jesus is constantly on the move through the work of his Holy Spirit. We experience his power and miracles throughout our lives. Such Miracles as those when he shows up in the chaos of our lives. The fact that we can breathe, walk, and talk is a miracle. Tomorrow we may not have that luxury. Jesus loves us and cares for us. His spirit is always at work in our lives to make us more like Jesus. He sees the chaos, and the trials and tribulations we are facing. Do we trust him with our whole life? Do we anticipate him showing up? Perhaps we’re waiting and realizing he’s already showed up and is at work behind the scenes. Do we welcome him and thank him? Do we expect, by faith, that he will show up and intervene?
Let us put Philippians 4:4-6 into practice. What are you going through? Take it to God In prayer. Thank Him in advance for what he is going to do. By faith, anticipate that he will show up. Don’t let your circumstances define whether or not he has “shown up.” I trust he showed up a while ago and is at work in your life situation. So keep trusting him to fulfill his whole plan in your life: the plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope for your future. Jeremiah 29: 11-13.
