Read Luke 7:36-50
You’ve Forgiven Much So I Love Much!
One of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner at his house. So Jesus went there and reclined at the table. Later, a sinful woman came into the house and she knelt at the feet of Jesus with alabaster perfume. In repentance, she weeps tears over Jesus’s feet, then dries them with her hair. She began to kiss his feet while pouring the perfume on his feet.
1. She was so full of LOVE for Jesus that she couldn’t stop kissing his feet.
2. She recognized how sinful she was and came to him seeking to be WHOLE and Jesus forgave her of all her sins.
3. She was UNASHAMED to be seen as a woman pursuing the Lord. She was BOLD even to enter a Pharisees house knowing he would be judgmental of her.
4. It was more important for the woman to be in good standing with Jesus than to worry about how she was being judged.
The Pharisee on the other hand:
1. Never showed love and respect to Jesus when he entered his house. He never washed his feet which was common to do for your guests.
2. He was too busy judging the woman that he missed seeing the sin that he had in his own life.
3. His arrogance blinded him of his need for Jesus. He showed no repentive heart. He showed little love to Jesus because he didn’t see that he even needed Jesus.
Who do you relate with more? The woman who sought forgiveness for all her sins? Or the Pharisee who was unable to recognize his sin. To know I’m forgiven much means I’ll love Jesus much!
