Is Jesus Really Lord Of Your Life?
Jesus asked a question we all need to consider when it comes to our faith walk. “Why do you call me Lord….” For every person who believes in Jesus as their Savior, we need to ask, “Is he Lord of your life?” “Is he both your Savior and Lord?” There are so many people who call themselves a Christian but have never made him Lord of their lives. Jesus doesn’t want us to put a LABEL on ourselves, as if that’s what determines our faith status! The label, “I’m a Christian” doesn’t mean anything unless Jesus is Lord of your life. I’m making Jesus Lord means you are wanting to obey his call on your life. You want to be obedient to his Word.
Jesus goes on to say, “Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?” It’s those who have learned to put his word into practice that have made him Lord!
Those who put his word into practice is like a man who built a house on a strong foundation. When the floods came (the troubles of life), it struck the house but it could not be shaken. Having Jesus as Lord of our lives means being able to look beyond the terrible things of life and see hope in Jesus. You realize he’s Lord over everything: time, temptations, circumstances, attacks from the devil, EVERYTHING!! When you understand this, you are motivated to keep moving forward with the Lord versus giving up, versus living in despair. You see hope for the future!
However, Jesus proclaims that those who don’t have a strong foundation are those who hear his word and don’t put it into practice. So when the turbulences of Life come: trials, tribulations, temptations, and all the different attacks of the enemy, they fall. They fail. They give up. They complain because God isn’t present or doesn’t care.
CHALLENGE: Let’s make God, not just our SAVIOR, but make him LORD of our lives: make him Lord over everything. And then let’s build that strong foundation which means, let’s invest daily into God’s word, and then obey it / put it into practice.
