Read Luke 6:39-40
I Didn’t Know I Was A Teacher!
Jesus told a parable saying, can the blind lead the blind? If they do, won’t they both fall into the pit? The student is not above their teacher. And once the student is trained, every student will be like their teacher.
As I reflect on these two verses, it’s a scary thought because we are ALL teachers!! We may not want to be a teacher but there are always eyes watching us and learning from our actions, decisions, and behaviors. They may also be learning by the words we speak. However, I feel they learn more by what we do versus by what we say.
The Pharisees taught and discipled others, but Jesus said in Matthew 23:15 that once a person finds the Lord, the Pharisees make them twice as much a child of hell as they were. In other words, they both become blind of the truth because the blind teacher taught the student false truths. So both the teacher and the student would fall into the pit … Hell.
What’s scary about this is, as I reflect back on my life, I can remember little eyes watching me and I can think of mistakes I’ve made that did not reflect Christ in his fullness. In reality, we are all teachers for there are always eyes watching us, both children and adults. People are always learning from us at home, in school, and church, at work, etc. People are always observing us. What’s exciting about all this, look at the opportunities we have to help point people to Jesus! Yes, we will fail, but even our failures are opportunities to teach others the value of saying, “I messed up. I’m Sorry. Forgive me.”
Pray the Lord helps you daily to be the “Teacher” he wants you to be for him. And be excited about it!!!! 😃
