Are You Telling Your Friends About Jesus?
[13] When morning came, Jesus called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles….
Just to recap yesterday’s devotion:
1. A DISCIPLE is someone who follows Jesus and learns and grows from his teachings.
2. An APOSTLE is someone designated to take the teachings of Jesus, the Gospel, to others.
Jesus called all his disciples/followers together and chose 12 of them to be apostles. These 12 he would invest into: teaching, preparing, and equipping them so one day they could share the gospel message when He left the Earth.
Sure enough, Jesus died and rose again from the dead. Only to ascend into heaven and sit at the right hand of God the Father. His final words to his followers was the commission to go everywhere and share Jesus with others. It is not God’s desire for any to perish in hell but for all to come to repentance (2nd Peter 3:9). In other words, people who come to Jesus need to turn from their sins and turn to Jesus in newness of life: receiving forgiveness, the Holy Spirit for empowerment in order to live a holy life, and empowerment to share the message of Jesus to those who are headed toward hell. It was then that God called ALL of us to be apostles, who take the gospel message of Salvation to the world.
CHALLENGE: Who are your friends? Do they know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior? If not then they are on a path to hell. Does that bother you? People you rub shoulders with everyday are people that God has put in your path to share Jesus with. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you share Jesus with others.
