Read Luke 5:17-26
God’s Power Amongst All Your Enemies.
One day Jesus was teaching in a house and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They came from every village in Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of God was with Jesus to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and wanted to get him before Jesus to be healed. Because the house was so crowded, they lowered the man through the roof in front of Jesus. Jesus did two things:
1. Jesus first forgave the paralyzed man of all his sins. This infuriated the Pharisees and teachers of the law because they knew only God could forgive sins. They failed, however, to recognize that the Son of God was in their midst.
2. Then Jesus healed the man of his paralysis which gave evidence that the man’s sins were forgiven because people believed in that day that if you were sick it was because of sin in your life. It also gave evidence that Jesus was the Son of God because he was able to both forgive and heal a person.
These two points I want you to never forget: the power of forgiveness and the power of healing.
But there’s also a third point that stood out to me: that’s the power of God when we are surrounded by the devil and his angels, and all our enemies.
Jesus was surrounded by SEVERAL Pharisees and teachers of the law. Can you imagine how many HATERS there were against Jesus and how many HATEFUL things they were saying against him. But God was with Jesus. It says, “the power of the Lord was with Jesus….”
We are called by God to take the GOSPEL message to those around us. Don’t let what people say against you or about you, dictate the validity of who you are and what you say.
1. Don’t forget you are forgiven of all your sins, so live in that forgiveness and reject the attempts of the enemy to pull you down.
2. God wants to empower you to do his work. Don’t let the enemy make you feel God doesn’t want to use you. He wants to and he will if you stand in his power while rejecting the enemies lies about you.
