Read Luke 5:12-16
There’s Healing In The Name Of Jesus!
While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man, “I am willing. Be clean! ” Immediately the leprosy left him. News about Jesus spread so much that crowds of people came to him to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
What healing do people seek from Jesus? Healing from sickness. Healing from a lost job. Healing from a broken heart because of a death of a loved one. Healing from loneliness. Healing from being bullied. Healing for broken families. Healing for broken relationships. For whatever reason people go to Jesus, I can say this with confidence, that Jesus hears their prayers. And he is at work…always!! There is always hope for a miracle, but if the miracle we prayed for doesn’t come to pass, there’s always hope for newness in Christ.
I’m thinking about me, as a representative for Christ. As people come to me for help, love, support, encouragement, or hope, what is my response? When people leave my presence, do they experience the love and healing, the encouragement and hope that Jesus offers? If a lonely person came to us, do we offer our friendship and love, or are we quick to see an annoying person infringing upon our time? Or do we invest into the person and show love and words of ENCOURAGEMENT and HOPE so that they experience the healing love and power of Jesus?
Always point people to Jesus and always be Jesus to them. There’s always hope. But always take time to isolate yourself from people so you can pray often to the Lord. We need to stay focused and prayer helps us stay focused on a God who will strengthen us and give us power and wisdom in helping others in need.
