Who Is Jesus To You?
Jesus is becoming more popular in the region. He’s at Lake Gennesaret and people were crowding tightly around him. As a result, Jesus got into Simon’s boat and asked that he take him out away from the shore so he could speak without being overcrowded by the people. After speaking, Jesus turned to Simon and said, “Let’s go out into deeper water so you can let down your nets to fish.” Simon didn’t want to because he and his business partners had just finished fishing through the night. They hadn’t caught a thing. However, Simon responded, “Master, because you say so, I will let down the nets.” This resulted in two boats catching so many fish that they began to sink.
Seeing this miracle from Jesus, Simon fell before the Lord on his knees in brokenness and declared to Jesus, “Go away from me, Lord, I am a sinful man!”
After listening to Jesus speak to the crowd with authority, Simon recognized that Jesus is more than just a Carpenter but is a man who deserved to be called Master or Teacher.
But after seeing the great miracle of two boatloads of fish, Simon recognizes that Jesus has a higher authority than any man and is now worthy to be called Lord.
Who is Jesus to you? Do you see him as a good man or a good teacher? Or do you see him as your Lord, one with greater Authority than any person on Earth. A divine Authority that draws us to our knees in brokenness before the Lord, saying I will follow you no matter what. I will give up my career, give up my comfort zones, and give up that which is security to me so that I can follow you into a new adventure and catch souls for Jesus rather than catching fish for money.
Who is Jesus to you? Is he worth following 100%?
