Read Luke 4:5-8
Don’t Sell Your Soul To The Devil.
Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for 40 days and nights where he fasted for 40 days with no food. The devil tempted him during and after the 40 days. The devil led Jesus to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to Jesus, “I will give you all the authority and splendor, it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will be yours! ” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'”
The devil tempted Jesus with an earthly splendor and with power and once again Jesus fights back with the Word of God. The devil tempts Jesus with all the kingdoms of the world and all the authority and power that goes with it. That must have looked attractive. Our world is filled with people looking to build a kingdom for themselves and to have power and authority, and popularity. Here’s the problem: 1. Anything the devil promises us is destructive and filled with lies. It is never as good as it seems. The outcome is always destructive. 2. All the kingdoms of this world is not what we should be living for, no matter how attractive it looks. God’s Heavenly kingdom is where we are to be focused. Besides, Jesus has been given all authority and power by God over the devil. Jesus could have sold his soul to the devil, but he didn’t because he knew a Heavenly Kingdom awaited him with more authority and power that was driven by love and not deception.
If we choose not to sell our soul to the devil and worship him, but instead follow Jesus and worship him, we gain the same privilege as Jesus. We get to operate with the same power and authority that Jesus has as he mentioned in Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8.
We often see people having “fun” in this world, who have unfortunately sold their souls to the devil. We see them having fun while we struggle through the temptations of this world. Their blindness will bring destruction upon their souls, but if we are faithful to the Lord, even to the end, we will be blessed with a Heavenly Kingdom that lasts forever.
So worship the Lord and him only. Don’t give your soul to the devil. Don’t worship Him. Pursue the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
