Read Luke 4:42-44
“I Don’t Have Time!”
Jesus just got done ministering to so many people after sunset. He healed many who were sick and cast out demons. I’m sure it was late into the night before he finished. He probably did not get much sleep because at daybreak he was up and made sure he went out to a solitary place. I’m confident he was praising and thanking God for all those who were healed. I’m confident he was praying and seeking the Lord.
At daybreak, the people whom Jesus had been ministering to were probably excited for a new day with Jesus. The people were looking for Jesus and when they found him, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But Jesus responded, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also because that is why I was sent.” So he continued to preach in synagogues throughout Judea.
Jesus was busy doing his father’s work. Lives were being impacted. Jesus was busy but he still made time to get away from people and every day responsibilities and be alone with the father. He never lost focus of why he was on earth. He had a message for all to hear and he made sure he kept fulfilling that purpose. As a result, many lives got to hear the truth and experience the truth.
Lord, you have called each of us for a purpose. We too are to Minister the GOSPEL to those around us. May we be willing to go wherever you send us. But Lord, help us not be so busy with Ministry or so busy with everyday life that we don’t “have time” to get alone with you and praise and thank you for all your goodness. To pray for others. To read your Word daily. Continue to equip us and lead us each day in helping those around us and meeting needs. Thank you Lord for all your love and goodness. Amen!
