Read Luke 3:21-22
I’m Proud Of You, Son!
On one given day, as John was baptizing people, Jesus was also baptized. As he was praying during the baptism, heaven opened up and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. The voice came from heaven from God, saying, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
This had to be a proud moment for God toward his son. My dad was not a real emotional person. When I graduated from college with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a minor in Bible, dad and my family members came to see my graduation ceremony. My dad was walking with me as I was doing my final preparations and errands before the ceremony started. At one point my dad stopped me and put his arm around me and looked me in the eyes and said, “Son, I want to know I’m very proud of you!” I confess, it took me by surprise. My dad didn’t typically say such things, so I knew that what I had accomplished must have meant a lot to my dad.
I just completed 4 years of college and I was headed to a new adventure with the Lord. There was a lot of unknowns, but God had something in store for me and I was excited about it. I graduated age 23 and went through a lot of hardships, and trials and tribulations that helped me become the man God wanted me to be. It’s been over 40 years since that special day when my dad said he was proud of me. And God has used me to impact lives for the kingdom. But I confess, I still went through several trials and tribulation and made some mistakes along the way. But I can honestly say God was with me through them all. I hated several of them and even hated God at times. I have some regrets, and yes, wish I could change some of them, but God used them to make me a wiser and stronger Christian. I’ve continued to pursue the Lord. I haven’t given up. I I have wondered where he was at at times, but he’s gotten me through several Life changes and made me not just wiser but stronger. I look forward to what more God has for me.
Thank you Dad for believing in me and thank you Heavenly Father for trusting me with Ministry for you! I have felt unworthy often. I’m glad my dad was proud of me and I pray I will one day hear my heavenly father say, “Well done my faithful servant, Blair. I’m proud of you!”
