What Do You Mean, ” I Must Repent Or Turn From My Sins?”
Chapter 3 starts with, “The word of God came to John, son of Zachariah, while in the wilderness.”
We often want God to speak to us with a very loud voice, making it very clear on what he wants us to do. But I most often hear God speak to me through his Holy Spirit in a very still and calm voice. Therefore, let us take time daily to read God’s word and take time daily to pray. Do both of these with an open heart to hear God’s still small voice.
God’s voice might give clear concise information for us to act upon, or he may give us bits and pieces that require us to walk IN FAITH not knowing the outcome. But either way, he will speak to us.
Jesus also preached the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. It seems fewer and fewer churches are preaching repentance, but instead are preaching about how much GOD LOVES US and wouldn’t change anything about us. This just isn’t true. God does love us no matter what we do, but he wants to come into our lives and transform us so we look more and more like Jesus and less and less like the world.
It all starts with a relationship with Jesus who will baptize us in the Holy Spirit and empower us to turn from our sins into a new life. God calls for Holiness on our part. Is that your desire? Or do you like hearing better the message that God loves you no matter what and He wouldn’t change anything about you?
Jesus, come into our lives. Fill us with your Holy Spirit and help each of us repent from our sins into a new life with you, amen!
