Read Luke 24:50-53
Recognize God’s Blessings!
While in the area of Bethany, Jesus lifted up his hands and blessed his disciples.
While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven.
The disciples worshiped Jesus and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
They stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
Before Jesus ascended into heaven he blessed his disciples, and yet the bigger blessing awaited them when they would receive the Holy Spirit. God wants us to be blessed by his Holy Spirit. Do we have any idea what that means? We can come up with examples of what that means but we will never truly understand its full meaning. As you look at the blessings of God, mention an example of God’s blessings in your life.
BLESSINGS OF GOD:
The number one blessing is Salvation found through Jesus. His promise of never leaving nor forsaking us. His strength. His guidance. His empowerment to do his will. His blessings of family, friends, the body of Christ- the church. His provisions such as food, a place to live and sleep, a job, the fruits of the Holy spirit, spiritual gifts, the ability to persevere, answered prayers. Even unanswered prayers are a blessing in disguise, along with trials and tribulations. As we reflect on God’s blessings, may we, like the disciples of Jesus, be filled with Great Joy and continually Praise God for his Blessings.
When’s the last time you sat down and just thanked and praised God for all the blessings in your life? God, forgive us when we are thankless people.
