Read Luke 24:1-12
I Have Too Many Regrets And Guilt.
On Sunday morning, 3 days after Jesus’s death, the women who prepared the spices for Jesus burial, went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, Jesus’s body was gone. Suddenly two angels appeared before them, gleaming like lightning, in fear they bowed before the angels. The Angels asked the question: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? … Remember how Jesus told you that he must be delivered into the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.” Then they remembered his words.
With excitement, they went back and reported it to the 11 disciples. They did not believe them, however, Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Why? Peter had denied Jesus three times and also, the final words that came out of Peter’s lips that Jesus heard were words of denial, rejection. They were spoken vehemently against his master.
Some people who have had broken relationships with their parents or some other loved one, will suffer long-term guilt when the loved one dies unexpectedly. They carry around this brokenness and regrets forever. They look for Hope for the future. I can see Peter searching for hope and wanting to believe the women because of that need for hope.
How many of us have regrets of life? Do we have regrets of things we did or said? You look back and wish you could undo those things. LISTEN! There is hope in Christ! There’s no sin, no regrets, no guilt or shame that Christ can’t forgive and remove. And it isn’t just the removing of it, but it’s then what he offers afterwards: new value, new purpose, new vision, and new growth.
What regrets are you living with? Remember Peter and how Christ called him to newness and used him mightily for the kingdom. The Lord wishes to do that for you! God is ALL ABOUT HOPE for our broken lives. He’s ALL ABOUT RENEWING us! Are you looking for hope? It’s found in Jesus Christ and Jesus alone.
