Read Luke 23:50-56
I Wish I Could Be More Like Them!
Have you ever seen someone’s Faith walk and wished you could be more like them because you could see that they were more like Jesus? Paul said in 1st Corinthians 11:1 “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.”
In this passage we see that there’s a man named Joseph. Who was he?
He was a member of the council which was a corrupt body of people who opposed Jesus. However Joseph was not like them for he was a good and upright man. He opposed the council’s decisions against Jesus. He was waiting for the Kingdom of God. He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’s body. He took Jesus off the cross and wrapped him in linen cloth, then placed Him in a tomb.
There were also the women who followed Jesus with their lives throughout Jesus’s Ministry. And now they’re following Joseph so they know where Jesus is buried in order to perform the burial rituals.
Joseph was different from the rest of the councilmen. How different are we from those we hang out with or work with? What could be written about us? Could it be said about me that:
Blair is a good and upright husband and father. He loves Jesus with all his heart. People love to have him around because he’s always encouraging. He prays for others. He loves others even the unlovable. He puts his faith into practice. He’s patient and kind. Jesus, I pray that I could be more like you. I want people to see Jesus through me in every aspect of my life.
The women in the passage were faithful followers of Jesus. They supported Jesus and his ministry. That’s my desire. I want to be a faithful follower of Jesus no matter what my circumstances are. I want to have that reputation that says, even when everyone else walked away from God, Blair never gave up following and trusting Him. I want to be more like them because they were more like Jesus.
