What Fruit Is Coming From Your Thought Life?
Passover was approaching and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus. Then Satan entered Judas and he went to the religious leaders and talked to them about how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them.
What consumes your mind? What thoughts do you entertain in your heart? What fruit is coming from these thoughts?
If my mind is consumed on failure and defeat, then I will experience failure and defeat. If my mind is focused on lust and sexual things, then I’ll be consumed with porn or inappropriate behaviors. If my mind is focused on hate, then I will be consumed with revenge and bitterness. If my mind is focused on the lies of the devil then I open my life up to defeat and destruction, and worries and anxieties. However, if my mind is focused on Christ and his truth, then I will experience hope and victories. I will not be controlled by the world and my circumstances. Instead I will see victory around the corner. Hope and newness will be knocking on my door. Transformation will be real. Lies will not overtake me.
Look at the chief priests and the teachers of the law. Their minds were consumed with hate and jealousy against Jesus. What fruit came from that? The desire to kill him. Judas’s mind was on money, one of the worst temptations of this world. What fruit came from that? A desire to betray Jesus.
So I ask again, what is your mind consumed with? What fruit is coming from that? Victory or defeat? Love or hate? Worry/anxiety or hope and confidence? Righteous behaviors or immoral behaviors? Do you need to get refocused on Christ and his truth, his plans, and his hope? Get your mind focused where God wants it and see what fruit comes from it.
