Read Luke 21:5-19
Things Will Get Worse Before They Get Better.
Some of the disciples remarked how beautiful the temple was. Jesus responded by telling them that one day the temple will be completely destroyed. So they asked Jesus, “When will these things happen? What will be the signs of the coming destruction.” Jesus gives several signs that will occur before His second coming when he gathers his church. Jesus mentions these coming signs:
1. Don’t be deceived for many will come in his name but are liars and deceivers. Don’t follow them!
2. There will be wars and uprisings, but do not be frightened, for they must happen. Other fearful events and great signs will occur, along with earthquakes, famines and pestilence.
3. Christians will be seized and persecuted. They will go before government officials. Jesus said, don’t worry because God will give you words to speak and you will bear testimony of who Jesus is.
4. Sadly, those who betray you may even be your family members and friends, and some will even put you to death. But Stand Firm and you will live an eternal life.
The signs Jesus mentioned are already happening around the world today. Let us take heed to what he said:
1. Don’t be deceived. People are preaching in Jesus name but are liars and deceivers. Don’t let yourself get sucked into their deception.
2. Don’t be frightened by all the wars and earthquakes and fearful events happening around the world. It has to get worse before Jesus returns. Let this be a life lesson that before we see the glory of God in our lives, we will face many trials and tribulations.
3. Christians will be persecuted and some will even die. But don’t worry your life is bearing witness to who Jesus is.
4. Knowing all these things, stand firm in your faith and you will live. You might lose your body on Earth because of your faith but they can’t destroy your spirit that will live forever in heaven. Don’t give up!
