Read Luke 21: 20-24
I’m Trying To Warn You.
Jesus warns Jerusalem of it’s coming destruction which was fulfilled around 70 AD by their enemies, the Romans. Jesus uses these words to describe the forthcoming destruction of Jerusalem because of their sin:
Surrounded, desolation, flee, punishment, dreadful, great distress, wrath, fall by the sword, taken prisoners, trampled.
Such destruction fell upon all who were guilty of turning from the Lord.
Jesus describes the coming destruction of Jerusalem as a warning to the rest of the world because of the coming destruction that awaits those who refuse to believe and follow Jesus. Just as Jesus warned Jerusalem, he also warns us of his coming return and judgment to the world. Beware that Jesus Will return. Beware that he will pass judgment against those who did not believe and follow him. Beware that his judgment will be more dreadful than those who tried to flee Jerusalem’s destruction.
Knowing this, how will you respond?
For me, I want to be found faithful to the Lord. I want to do whatever I can to love as many people to Jesus as possible. I don’t want to see any perish in hell. This is my desire! What will be my obstacles? Satan’s deception for he will do everything possible to get me distracted from God so as to break my faithfulness. He will do everything possible to get me to hate the unsaved and not want to invest into their lives. He’ll do whatever possible to make me selfish so I think more of “my success” than the “redemption” of others.
