Read Luke 19:41-44
Don’t Be Stubborn.
Jesus continued his travels to Jerusalem and when he saw the city he wept over it. He saw how spiritually lost the city was and it hurt him deeply. When is the last time I wept over someone because they were spiritually lost?
Jerusalem was living in chaos and needed to receive Jesus as the one that could give them peace and salvation. However their hearts were so hard that God eventually hid the truth from them. He even warns them that a day is coming when their enemy would surround them and destroy them, along with the walls that protected them. Why would God allow such a destruction to fall upon them? Because their hearts were so hard that they did not recognize Jesus in their midst and did not recognize God’s pursuit of them. So in 70 AD, this prophecy from Jesus was fulfilled when the Roman Government attacked and destroyed Jerusalem.
Why is it that we can become so stubborn against God? Why do we allow our hearts to become so hard against his loving pursuit of us? I would like to encourage you that God loves you more than any person ever could. He wants you to surrender your life to him because his ways are better than our ways. He has us in his best interest. So if God is knocking on the door of your heart, don’t let your heart become hard. I guarantee you, if you keep a hard heart, he will allow a day (or days) to occur when you are broken, just as Jerusalem was broken. God allows such things to occur in hopes of regaining our hearts for him. Today the Lord is pursuing you! Today is the day to surrender all control over to the Lord and invest into a love relationship with him. Don’t wait for a day of destruction to occur in order to break your hard heart. DON’T BE STUBBORN!
