Does This Describe Your Transformation With Jesus?
As Jesus was entering Jericho a man was there by the name of Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was very wealthy. Tax collectors were known for being corrupt and corrupt he was for he had cheated people out of money and was taken very good care of by the Roman government. From a Jew’s perspective, there was nothing “good” about him.
There was something about Jesus that captivated Zacchaeus and he just had to see him. Because of his very short stature, he ran ahead in order to climb a Sycamore Fig Tree. As Jesus came near the sycamore tree, he did something NO ONE EXPECTED. He stopped at the tree and said to Zacchaeus, “Come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
Zacchaeus responded by coming down at once and welcomed him gladly. Zacchaeus had an encounter with Jesus that caused a spiritual transformation in his life: his Salvation. The transformation was real!
1. Zacchaeus gave half of his possessions to the poor.
2. Those whom he had cheated, he paid back four times the amount.
What is your transformation/salvation testimony? Is it anything like Zacchaeus’s? Whether or not your encounter with Jesus was like the encounter Zacchaeus had, is not important to me. What is important, is there a transformation that has occurred in your life? The change in Zacchaeus was obvious. How obvious is the transformation in our lives when we are around others. Do they see Jesus in us or do we look too much like the world? Think about that.
