Are You A Beggar Or Leader?
As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was by the roadside. He heard the crowd coming and asked what was happening. They told him Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. The man immediately began calling out to Jesus for mercy. Those leading the way told him to be quiet, but the man was persistent. Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. Jesus asked the man, “What do you want me to do for you?” The man replied, “Lord, I want to see!” Jesus replied, “Receive your site; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight resulting in him following Jesus and praising God. Those who saw the miracle also praised God.
THE BLIND BEGGAR:
– The blind man once begged for money. Later, he begged for mercy.
– The blind man called Jesus, Lord! – After being healed, he became a follower of Christ.
– The beggar believed Jesus could heal him.
– The man’s encounter With Jesus resulted into a transformation. He went from being a beggar to following Jesus and praising God.
THE PEOPLE LEADING THE WAY FOR JESUS:
– When the beggar asked why all the commotion, they said Jesus is passing by.
– When the beggar began to beg for Jesus they told him to be quiet.
– They we’re leading the way, however, as Leaders they missed an opportunity to show mercy for a person in need.
– Upon seeing the miracle, they began to praise God.
JESUS:
– Upon hearing the beggar pleading for mercy, Jesus stops.
– Jesus asks, “What do you want me to do for you?”
-Jesus intervenes resulting in a healing and people praising God.
Which individual best describes you? The blind bagger in need? Jesus is stopping and listening to you. He sees your need. He will intervene into your life which will result in Praise to God.
Are you the men leading the way for Jesus? Are you looking for opportunities to show mercy and share Jesus with others? Or are you so busy with your life, that you are quick to pass by others? Everyday, before we leave the house, let our prayer be, “Jesus, instead of me trying to lead you, I ask that you lead me today and give me an opportunity to show Mercy and help a person in need. Amen.”
