Read Luke 18:15-17
Don’t Wait! Start Now!
People were bringing babies to Jesus so he could put his hands on them and bless them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus, in the middle of their rebuking, called the children to himself and said, “Let the children come to me….” WHY? Jesus replied
Jesus replied:
1. Because the kingdom of God belongs to them.
2. Because they have a tender heart at such a young age for the Lord. We adults can learn from them. Jesus said we should have a heart like theirs or we can’t enter the kingdom of God.
I have to wonder if this isn’t the problem with our society today. We don’t make a relationship with the Lord important for our young children. Then as they get older and start to face temptations and even make bad decisions, then we turn to the Lord for help. It’s great that we turn to the Lord, but it’s harder to captivate the heart of a teen than a young child. May families realize the value of Jesus for our babies and little children NOW! Don’t wait to put value on a relationship with Jesus when they are older. They should be exposed to the love of Christ at a young age so when they get older they have a foundation of truth already established.
I understand they could still turn away from the Lord, but we increase the probability of them returning later if we invested in them at a very young age.
But for those who didn’t expose their children to Christ, let me say this, it’s never too late to introduce Jesus to our kids.
