Read Luke 18:1-8
Persistent Prayer Does Not Mean Giving Up.
I love how this chapter starts off: “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” The parable is about a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. The parable includes a widow who was being mistreated and taken advantage of. So she came to the judge for justice against those who opposed her. The judge was eventually so bothered and annoyed by her persistence that he gave her justice even though he didn’t fear God nor care about what she thought.
So if an unjust judge can give Justice to a persistent woman, how much more will a just God intervene and bring Justice to those who are faithful and persistent, and cry out to him day and night.
Jesus ends the parable with a question: “When the Son Of Man [Jesus] comes, will he find faith on the Earth? In other words, when you are persistent in your prayers, do you do so in faith believing God will intervene? Or are you persistent in prayer but not really believing God will intervene because of your circumstances that you can see. Or is your persistent prayers followed by faith not wanting to give up and quit? Keep praying! God’s answer will come in due time, God’s time. Don’t lose heart and don’t lose faith. His answer will come and when it does trust him or it will bring joy to your heart and bring Glory to God’s name.
