Read Luke 1:67-80
With All My Heart.
After the birth of Zechariah and Elizabeth’s baby, John, Zachariah’s mute tongue was open finally after 9 months. He was then able to finally speak. The Holy Spirit was upon Zechariah and he began to prophesy in song speaking of the coming salvation of Jesus. Here are some of the key phrases that he said:
1. Praise be to the Lord God of Israel because he has REDEEMED his people.
2. God has raised up SALVATION for us just as was told by the prophets long ago.
3. God has provided SALVATION from our ENEMIES.
4. God has shown MERCY upon us to RESCUE us.
5. God desires that we SERVE him WITHOUT FEAR but in HOLINESS and RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Then Zechariah prophesied about his own child, John, saying:
1. John will be called a PROPHET of the MOST HIGH.
2. John will PREPARE THE WAY for the coming SALVATION through JESUS.
3. John will educate people of the SALVATION and FORGIVENESS of their SINS.
4. John will speak of GOD’S MERCY for us.
5. John will speak of HOPE – the coming LIGHT from heaven that will SHINE on those living in DARKNESS and in the shadow of DEATH.
6. John was point us to the path of PEACE versus the path of FEAR and ANXIETY.
My prayer is:
I’d be like Zachariah and praise God with all my heart.
I’d be like John and be a tool God uses to point people to Jesus.
I want to serve the Lord with all the gifts he has given me and do so with all my heart!
