What’s Most Important To You? Your Money or God?
We can learn from the parable about a shrewd manager of money. He was accused of wasting his master’s money. He was about to be fired, so he chose to be generous to his master’s debtors by reducing their bill. He did it to find favor with them so they’d welcome him into their homes. As a result he was welcomed by the debtors and commended by his master.
When it comes to money, it can either control our lives in that it’s all we live for, or we can be responsible with our money yet generous in helping to be a blessing to others for the Lord. If our money is a blessing to others it accomplishes two things: 1. You gain friends because they are touched by your sacrificial giving. And 2. You end up building up treasures in heaven because your giving was for the purpose of furthering God’s Kingdom.
When God blesses us, do we use it for personal gain or is it to impact a life for Jesus? If we can be trusted to be responsible and generous with a little money, then we can be trusted with even a greater amount of money to be responsible and generous for the Lord. Remember, it’s all about furthering the Kingdom of God.
So make a choice: Be controlled by money so that it becomes your master, or choose God to be the master you serve so that your money becomes a resource God uses to be a blessing to others as a way of furthering his kingdom. Jesus said you can’t serve both God and money. Again, make a choice: let money be the driving force in your life decisions or let the Lord be the driving force of your life decisions. I pray that God becomes your master rather than being mastered by her money.
