Have You REALLY Come To Your Senses?
Yesterday we began by reading about the prodigal son and we left off at the point where the prodigal son came to his senses. What does that really mean? The prodigal son was living in sin and running his life as he wanted to. Following the Lord was not high on his priority list. But something happened that turned that all around. He came to his senses! Here are examples of what gives evidence of him coming to your senses:
1. He said, “How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!” This son came to the realization that he can’t run his own life. He realized he had to let go of CONTROL.
2. He says, “I will go back to my Father….” He realized he had to SURRENDER his will for the will of his Father.
3. He says, “I have sinned against heaven and against you.” He CONFESSES he is a sinner and in need of his Father’s forgiveness.
4. He also says, “I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” Here’s evidence of a BROKEN HEART before God, approaching his Father in HUMILITY.
5. The Bible says, “So he got up and went to his Father.” This gives evidence of true REPENTANCE. He’s leaving the environment that previously captivated his heart of sin. He turns away from it and goes back to his father to be a SERVANT.
I asked this question yesterday but I’ll ask it again: “Have you truly come to your senses?”
1. Have you come to the decision that you no longer want to be in CONTROL of your own life?
2. Have you SURRENDERED your will and desires for the will and desires of your Father?
3. Have you turned to the Lord and CONFESSED your sins and acknowledged your need for forgiveness?
4. Have you approached the throne of God with a BROKEN and HUMBLE heart?
5. Have you REPENTED of your sins by walking away from the environment that captivated your heart and turned 100% to God so you can live a new life in Christ with a SERVANT’S heart?
If you say yes to these questions then congratulations! You have come to your senses! If you can’t say yes, then what are you waiting for? God loves you and wants the best for you. Surrender today!
