How Dare You Question God!
In the time of Herod King of Judea there was a priest named Zachariah and his wife Elizabeth who both were descendants of Aaron. They were both righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. Unfortunately they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive and they were both very old.
One day, Zachariah went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense. It was then that an angel of the Lord appeared to him standing at the right side of the altar of incense. Zechariah was struck with fear! The angel said do not be afraid, Zachariah, for your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John and he will be a joy and delight to you and many will return to the Lord because of him. He’ll bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God and will make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I’m an old man and my wife is well along in years.”
The angel responded, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you the good news.” In essence, he said, I am Gabriel an Angel sent by God to tell you this good news and you have the audacity to ask me if this is going to come true! How Dare You Question God!
Because Zachariah questioned the words of God, the Angel told him he would be unable to speak until the day the baby is born.
Have you ever questioned God in how things were being carried out in your life? Were your circumstances such that you already drew the conclusion of what your life would be like? Perhaps you couldn’t see anything good coming out of your circumstances? All I know is this, God loves us very much and promises to never leave us nor forsake us. There’s always hope for a life of joy. For example, there is something I have been striving for, and believing in as it relates to a podcast. Things continue to be stagnant. I haven’t had an angel come to me and say this is definitely going to happen, but I continue to question God. I feel my attitude needs to be, “Lord, whether this does or does not come to be, I trust you with my life. I trust that what you do have for me will still exalt and bring glory to your name.” “In the meantime, I will continue to pursue you with all my heart and trust you with your timing. Thank you Jesus!”
What are you going through? Do you find yourself continually questioning God? When God says I will never leave you nor forsake you, that he loves you, and he will take care of you, he means it. God help us all to quit questioning you with our future! How dare us!
