Read Luke 1:26-38
Be The Servant God Called You To Be!
Yesterday we mentioned about Zachariah and Elizabeth, who were in there old age, who were told by God that Elizabeth would have her first baby and the baby would prepare the way for the Lord.
Today we hear about the coming birth of Jesus through the virgin Mary.
When Elizabeth was in her 6 months of pregnancy the angel Gabriel came to the virgin Mary who was pledged to be married to Joseph. The angel said to her “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was afraid to see the angel and he told her not to be afraid because she has found favor with God. He said she would conceive and give birth to a son and she was to call him Jesus. He would be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
Mary could not understand how this could happen since she was a virgin. The angel told her that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and cause her to be pregnant because the baby to be born must be called the Son of God.
Mary’s response to Gabriel was, “I am the Lord’s servant; may your word to me be fulfilled.”
What is God calling you to do? Have you been seeking the Lord with all your heart? Have you invested in the Word of God? Where do you feel the Holy Spirit leading you?
Would the Lord say to you, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you!” Is your heart open to hear what he has for you?
Would you respond to the Lord in the similar manner that Mary did? Would you be able to say to him, “I am your Servant, Lord! Whatever you have for me, let it be fulfilled in and through my life!”
Are you willing to go wherever God calls you? Sometimes the path is rough. It requires taking up your cross daily and following him. It’s being willing to sacrifice your desires over God’s desires. The good news is, we don’t go alone. We have the Holy Spirit to strengthen us and guide us with every step; and we have the body of believers to encourage and support us. Be the servant God’s called you to be!
