Are You That Blind?
Jesus confronts the crowd for their hypocrisy because they can easily determine if it’s going to rain outside or if it will be hot outside; but they can’t interpret the “present time.” They can see the weather but they can’t see that the kingdom of God, God’s son, is in their midst. Their hypocrisy blinds them from the truth.
Jesus encourages them to settle their differences between them and God by comparing it to how one settles a dispute with another. While two individuals go to the Magistrate, they try and settle their dispute and be reconciled on their way because there’s a chance their adversary will take them before the judge and the judge may turn you over to the officer who will put you in prison.
Lord, help us not be so blind and so hypocritical that we miss your presence and your love for us. May we act now to get reconciled with you by our faith and our commitment to follow you so that we are not taken before God on Judgment Day and end up in the eternal prison – hell.
God, you have so much to offer us. You have a love that’s deeper than anything or any love on this Earth. You offer us freedom from sin, and a new life to serve you to the fullest, and the ultimate reward of spending eternity with you in heaven. Help us not be hypocritical, but instead, help us let go of the things of this world that are holding us in bondage! Help us not to be so blind that we miss the opportunity to be set free from our sin. Lord, what do we need to let go of on this Earth that is holding us in bondage? What do we need to repent of? What do we need to quit trying to be in control of so that you can take control and set us free. Help us to let go of the things of this world so that we can invest our time and energy in you and in your Word. Find us FAITHFUL to your TRUTH rather than finding us BLIND to your TRUTH.
