Read Luke 11:33-36
You Must Answer These Two Questions?
It is ludicrous to turn on a lamp in a dark room, only to hide it or cover it up. In the same way, our lives are to be a light of Truth for Jesus in a dark world, but it is ludicrous for us to proclaim faith in Jesus only to be ashamed to live that truth when we’re around those who aren’t living for Jesus.
Jesus says that our eyes are the lamp of our body. If our eyes are healthy than our body will reflect the light of Jesus. But if our eyes are unhealthy, then our body will be full of darkness. Jesus said, “See to it that the Light within you is not darkness.”
So what do our eyes give attention to? If we are focusing on things in this world that oppose the light of Christ, then we will not shine the truth of Jesus. Instead we’ll walk in a manner that blends within this world. Our lives will do nothing to help point people to Jesus.
It’s scary to ask myself how often does my life not point people to Jesus but away from him? How often am I quiet of the truth out of shame or embarrassment? How often am I quiet of the truth because my eyes are attracted more to the darkness of this world?
Two Questions:
1. Are my eyes giving more attention to the truth of Jesus so I can be a light of Truth to to a lost dark world without Jesus? OR
2. Are my eyes giving more attention to the lies of this world that says, “Eat, Drink, and be Merry” while my own life is in need of the light of Jesus?
