Read Luke 11:24-26
What An Eye Opener This Is.
After Jesus cast out a demon in a man’s life, he was set free of the demon’s power. Jesus shared with the crowd saying that when an impure Spirit comes out of a person, the demon will seek to find rest someplace. If he doesn’t find it, he will return to the person he left, and though the man was set free, the demon will take seven other evil spirits, more wicked than himself, and will go in and live there. As a result, the man’s condition will be worse than before.
What an eye opener this passage is. A man is set free by Jesus, but ends up being worse than before. Why is that? It’s not enough to get rid of negative influences in your life. You have to replace the negative influences with positive influences. In other words, you need to make Jesus your Lord and Savior. Jesus wants to be the center of your life. It’s all about following Jesus not just receiving from Jesus. Jesus may do something wonderful in your life as a way of showing his love for you, but you get to choose if you receive that love for your life and follow him or not. You can’t just accept his everyday blessings in life while living your life the way you want to. You can’t just tell Jesus to bless you with good things in life and then be captivated by the world. You can’t just ask Jesus to bless you while living your life according to your flesh desires. This will only result in a life becoming worse than before. You can’t have two standards by which you live by: the World AND Jesus. That’s called hypocrisy.
Choose today to make Jesus not just your Savior but also the Lord of your life.
