Read Luke 10:1-20.
Praise God for the 600% Increase!
Just like in Luke 9 when Jesus sent out his 12 disciples to go from village to village, this time Jesus is sending out 72 followers. He instructs them to “GO!” He sends them out like lambs amongst wolves for some will welcome them and some won’t.
If they are welcomed, they are to eat with them, heal the sick, and share the good news of Jesus.
If they are not welcomed, they are to go into the street and rebuke them with a warning that unless they repent and turn to Jesus they will go to Hades / hell.
“The 72 returned with Joy saying, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.'”
This passage is so encouraging to me:
1. Jesus had said that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few but pray for the workers for the harvest. What a great testimony to go from Jesus sending 12 followers out for Ministry to 72 followers. That’s a 600% increase. Jesus, I pray for workers of the harvest at the Union City School that there will be increase in the numbers of students and adults that want to see kids at school come to know Jesus.
2. Jesus said, “Go I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” This sounds scary and not very encouraging, but Jesus also said that he gives them all the power and authority to overcome all the power of the enemies. So we can rejoice in this.
3. The 72 returned with joy saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” Jesus said don’t rejoice that they submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
God I pray for a 600% increase in workers for the harvest at the Union City School so we can rejoice that people’s names are written in heaven. Give us all a passion to be a part of the harvest at our homes, at our schools, or at our workplace.
