Read Lamentations Chapter 4
My Spirit Is Starving To Death!
Vs 1: Jeremiah compares the people of Judah with gold, saying, “How the gold has lost its luster, the fine gold has become dull.” I immediately thought, “Does this describe my faith in Jesus?” If so, it will become easy to identify. For example:
1. Vs 3 says, “The people have become heartless.” Have you become so busy with your world that you miss the needs of others? And it starts with family first, then the needs of those in and outside the church.
I’m a man and I want so much to be a good provider for my family financially. But if that’s where it stops, I’ve missed the mark. Matthew 4:1-4 says Jesus was without food 40 days and nights. The devil tempted him saying, “If you are the son of God, turn these stones into bread.” Jesus responded by saying, ” Man cannot live on bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.”
Honestly, men, CONGRATULATIONS if you are a good provider for your family financially. I mean that with all my heart. But that’s not enough. Just as our physical needs are important, so are our spiritual needs. And Jesus said that comes from the words of God. And thank God we have the Bible that has the words of God for our souls. You would not dare go without food and drink for more than 3 days before you would starve to death. Why do we go days, weeks, months, years, without touching our Bibles and leading our family through the Words of God? Is your family starving to death spiritually?
CHALLENGE: May we all, regardless of our age, make time with our Lord in the word and prayer.
Men, if you are married, and have a family, keep being a good provider, but make sure you are the spiritual leader of the family. Have a Bible time with your family. Have a prayer time with your family. Don’t let Church be what you rely on for all of their spiritual food. Let Church be that which enhances the spiritual food they are getting throughout the week.
Doing this may mean changing your life practices a lot, but trust me, the eternal rewards are great. It’s well worth it. And if we role model this for our family, we will find them more likely to make it an essential part of their lives as well. Blessings!!
