Are You Leading The Way For Jesus?
There was a dispute over the man Jesus healed who was blind at birth. So the Jews brought the man before the Pharisees. They were not happy because Jesus had healed the man on the Sabbath. Rather than the Pharisees rejoicing that Jesus showed love and compassion for the man on the Sabbath, they were angry because they claimed Jesus was working on the Sabbath and thus breaking the law.
There was a line of questioning by the Pharisees for the healed man. Upon hearing what Jesus did, some Pharisees felt that Jesus was not from God because he “broke the Sabbath”. But other Pharisees said he must be from God because he performed such a miracle. So they were divided. Many Pharisees wanted to make the healed man understand that Jesus was NOT from God.
This resulted in the man making two comments that INFURIATED the Pharisees:
1. “You keep asking me the same questions. Is that because you want to be one of Jesus’s disciples also?”
2. “How remarkable to think that Jesus healed me, and you can’t come to grips that he’s from God.”
This resulted in the Pharisees becoming so furious that they hurled insults at the man and eventually kicked him out of the Temple.
The religious leaders, the Pharisees, should be the ones leading the way in pointing people to Jesus. But their arrogance and pride kept them from doing so. In fact they were leading people away from Jesus.
What I see in Scripture, if you keep silent of the truth, then God will raise up someone else. Most often it’s the foolish, the weak, the non-influential, those from humble beginnings, the broken, the imperfect (I Corinthians 1:26-29). And those who are supposed to lead the way become one’s worst enemy.
Do you fit the description of what was listed above? I hope so, because that makes you a prime candidate to be used by God to impact lives for the kingdom; those in your family, in the church, and even those outside the church. Become one of Jesus’s leaders and not his worst enemy.
