Read John 9:1-7
I Want To Be A Light For Jesus.
As Jesus was walking along, He came upon a man begging for money who had been blind from birth. The disciples asked Jesus, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus replied, neither of them, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in him. Jesus emphasized how important it is for us, as Christians, to be busy doing the Lord’s work. In fact we must take advantage of every opportunity to do the work of Christ. Jesus said, “As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me!” Jesus was sent to be a light in the dark world. So we too are sent to be a light in a dark world and be available to the Holy Spirit to use us to touch and impact lives for Jesus.
There are so many needs so we can’t be lazy Christians, but must be busy daily for the Lord. It may mean getting up close and personal with someone. It may mean allowing distractions in our everyday routines. The ultimate goal is to bring glory to God and not ourselves.
Could I boast of all these “wonderful things” I did so far this week? I suppose I could, but bragging on myself gives the impression that I’m worthy of praise. When in fact, I can do nothing apart from the power of Christ in and through me.
So may all we do be an opportunity to point people to Jesus who can heal, not just their physical needs, but their spiritual needs as well.
So Jesus went to the blind man, spit on the ground, made some mud, and put it on the blind man’s eyes and he was healed.
God, use me everyday to touch someone’s life, that I might be a light in their dark world, so they find healing mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
