Kick the Habit!

Jesus defines how the Jews are slaves. He said, “Everyone who sins is a slave to sin. And a slave has no permanent place in the family (of God), but a son or daughter belongs to the family forever (those who have overcome the sin through Jesus).

To overcome being a slave to sin is to surrender to the Lord your sin, along with surrendering the desire for the sin. Surrender it and let him forgive you and empower you to no longer live in that sin that holds you in bondage. Jesus wants to set you free so that you will be free indeed! But you can’t do it on your own. Only the empowerment of the Holy Spirit can help you. The question is, “Do you want to be set free?” I ask because sin can be “fun” and it can “feel good.” The sin that holds us in bondage, the “pleasure” that comes from it is temporary. The destruction it brings can be long-lasting, or even eternal. Let today be the day that you say, enough is enough.

Let this be your prayer daily: “Dear Lord, take away the desire for the sin that is holding me in bondage. And Lord, empower me so I can have victory over the sin and be set free. And let me begin to see a transformation in my life. In Jesus name, Amen!”

I don’t care how deep you are in sin. God loves you right where you’re at and wants to set you free. So swallow your pride and humbly come before the Lord and what you’ll find is, not only that God loves you, but your family and friends love you also and will lovingly come alongside you and encourage you if you need it.

Before you can kick the habit you have to kick the desire for it first. God will help you and so will your family and friends!
