Are You Going Deeper With Your Faith Walk?
Jesus is proclaiming who he is, that he came down from above and that his Father sent him. So some of the Jews asked, “Who are you?” It’s just not sinking in. Jesus proclaimed, “Just what I’ve been telling you from the beginning.” They didn’t understand that when he said “His Father” that he was referring to God.
So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.” Then it says, “Even as he spoke, many believed him.”
What is meant here when it says, “Many believed.”?
Leading up to this verse Jesus had made some bold and provocative claims:
1. He spoke of his divine origin when he said he was from above.
2. He spoke of his upcoming crucifixion when he said he would be lifted up.
So did those who “BELIEVED” fully understand this. I don’t think so. They may have understood he was sent from God and that he was the Messiah. But they saw him as the Messiah that would save them politically and not spiritually.
To those with a heart that says, “I truly believe,” Jesus is always persistent to make himself known. He’s always calling those who believe into a deeper walk with him. So let me ask: do you believe in Jesus? Have you accepted his call to be one of his disciples? Are you going deeper with your walk with him?
Let us be persistent to follow Jesus just as he is persistent to draw us into a deeper relationship with him. Don’t rest your faith in the mere words, ” l believe.” One’s faith is demonstrated through your actions and not your words. Have you accepted the call of being one of his disciples? Is your faith walk deeper today than a year ago. Let Jesus keep taking you deeper in your faith walk with him.
