Read John 8:21
Being Left Behind Is Horrible.
Jesus said to the people, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”
When I was around 8 years old, we had a huge family gathering at the farm. All 15 of my cousins, along with our aunts and uncles and grandparents, were there. Grandpa jumped in the truck with his son and said we’re going down to the gully. The gully is across the road down the farm property. It may not mean anything to you, but taking a drive down to the gully was an exciting event. People began jumping in the back of the pickup truck, but I went up to grandpa and said, “Grandpa, can I go!” He said, go ask your uncle Richard.” So I took off running around the barn and asked Uncle Richard if I can go down to the gully with Grandpa. He replied, “I don’t care!” I can’t explain just how excited I was thinking I get to go to the gully with everyone.
In the meantime, everybody’s getting in the back of the truck and nobody’s asking Uncle Richard if they can go. So as I come around the barn, I see the truck pulling out of the driveway with everybody in the back laughing and having fun. I watched it pull down into the field and drive all the way down to the gully, without me! I got left behind. I cried so hard. I cried and cried and cried and cried so hard! It was a horrible feeling.
Jesus communicates that he’s going to die for the Forgiveness of sins and will eventually ascend into heaven to be with his Father. Those who have not repented of sin and turned to Christ for the forgiveness of sin will end up dying in their sin and spend eternal life in hell separated from God and Heaven forever. Can you imagine being left behind. It’s a scary thought to think that you’ve heard about Jesus all your life only to be left behind because you lived for the things of this world rather than for Jesus.
As I think about this I can’t imagine crying for the rest of my life. I know how I felt when I cried at the farm. I can’t imagine crying for eternity. I suggest you take care of your sin problem through a relationship with Jesus. Don’t get left behind for eternity. It will be horrible!!!
