Let’s Celebrate!
Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
We live in a world of darkness. When sin came into the world death came for all humans and for all the Earth. Everything was cursed by sin. Death and darkness go hand in hand. How can we navigate our lives when darkness and death is our outcome? How can we fight the darkness of this world whose only goal is to destroy us, discourage us, deceive us, and hate us? Where can we find the light of life that overcomes and destroys the darkness instead of it destroying us?
Jesus is the only light we can trust that will overcome the darkness so that we can walk in holiness and Truth. This light brings life to our souls. We’re no longer under the bondage of sin and darkness and death. But we now have the empowerment of the light that gives truth that overcomes deception. It gives hope that overcomes discouragement. It gives a love that overcomes hate and bitterness. It gives life that overcomes death, the death that we thought we were destined for.
How can we obtain this light? It’s through a relationship with Jesus. It’s when we follow him. It is keeping our eyes on him and his word. It’s being focused on his truth so that we are not deceived on a path that taints our faith walk. Be steadfast in Christ and this life he offers is for eternity. Remember, Jesus said this light on Earth is the light of life. Life that overcomes death. Truth that overcomes deception. Hope that overcomes discouragement. Love that overcomes hate and bitterness. To have this is worth celebrating! Let’s follow Jesus!
